SECOND HELPINGS IN HENLEY-ON-THAMES
Henley Food Festival May
It’s too early to call it annual, but Henley’s first Food
Festival was such a success they’ve decided to hold another one
in 2007. Chefs from some of the local area’s and England’s
best boutique restaurants will come to the Thames river town, most famous
for it’s Royal Rowing Regattas, for a weekend in May, 2007. The
showcase is in the form of a competition. The first rounds of cooking
will take place in early March, but the grand public event will be held
at the Market Place, Henley Town Hall in the Margaret Day Room and Courtyard
on the 11th-12th of May.
Some
of the participating chefs and restaurants will be Aiden Byrne of The
Dorchester, television’s
Antony Worrall Thompson of The Greyhound one of only seven chefs to
win the lifelong chefs award Meilleur
Ouvrier de Grande Bretagne, Tom Kerridge of The Hand & Flowers, celebrity
chefs Raymond Blanc of the Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons considered one
of the best restaurants in Europe and Mike Robinson from the Pot Kiln
and many more. Some of the hotels participating are The Baskerville Arms,
The Forbury Hotel, Hotel Du Vin, and the Red Lion Inn. There will be wine
and food samples and items for purchase at vending stalls in the exhibit
hall. Entrance to the festival is free and will run from 11:30 am to
9 pm Friday and
Saturday.
