Stuffed Animal Friends at the Romerberg Square
Not since
the bear-bating fairs of the Middle-Ages have there been so many bears
on Romerberg Square. If touring Germany’s
shopping city and the museums and monuments to art, history and financial
fiddle-dee-dee get you wound up for a return
to the simplicities of childhood, or you're tugging along a few children
of your own, pestering about what is there to interest them, toddle over
to the Romerberg Plaza, the rebuilt old Medieval center of the city lined
with half-timber buildings of centuries past to a little corner of
kid paradise.
The shop called Teddy
Paradies (Teddy Paradise), tucked into a corner of the Romerberg Sqaure
next to the old town hall recently opened to
offer Teddy Bear lovers a place to revel in furry friends. No museum
but a store where all the treasures may be taken home. Owner Volker Bredhauer
has gathered a selection of more than 2,500 varieties of Teddy Bears
in sizes, shapes and colors to boggle the imagination. Be greeted by
the giant stuffed fellow at the door and guided by the helpful assistants
through the wonderland of plush and not so plush animals. You’ll
find traditional historic Teddy Bears and cute cuddly fanciful characters,
and not all bears, but other animal friends from the barnyard and the
briar patch. Characters named Igelbärt and Kleiner K. Nickel.
The stuffed animals at the Teddy Paradies shop are not cheap. No corner
souvenir store knock-offs but high quality classic name products, unique
finds for any serious bear and stuffed animal fan. Though certainly the
purveyors would prefer you take home a purchase, they are prideful of
their popular little menagerie and welcome a stop by to look. The Teddy
Paradies store holds regular special events for customers and events.
