GERMAN NATIONALES AUTO MUSEUM - LOH COLLECTION
Rare Journey Through Automotive History

Loh Collection Mercedes SupercarThe Nationales Automuseum – The Loh Collection in Dietzhölztal, Hesse, brings together more than a century of automotive design, engineering and motorsport. From pre-war European luxury cars to championship-winning Formula One machines, the museum presents the automobile as an expression of technology, competition, craftsmanship and history.

Jfk Assassination Car 1963 Lincoln ConvertibleOne of the collection's most unusual exhibits immediately raises a question familiar to American visitors: where is the Kennedy assassination car? The museum is home to the 1963 Lincoln Continental presidential limousine used by John F. Kennedy in Dallas on November 22, 1963. The limousine had been part of the private Loh Collection before the Nationales Automuseum opened to the public, making its presence here an especially significant part of the museum's story. Photographs from Dallas accompany the automobile, connecting a historic vehicle with one of the most consequential moments in history.

Classic Auto Loh CollectionEarly automobiles and grand touring cars demonstrate an era when mechanical innovation was accompanied by elaborate coachwork and highly individual styling. Among the distinctive examples are the Bucciali TAV8-32 V12 and Avions Voisin C14, representing a period when European manufacturers pursued experimental engineering and handcrafted luxury. Racing history occupies a central place in the museum. Displays recall the pre-war Grand Prix era and legendary drivers such as Tazio Nuvolari, whose 1935 victory at the Nürburgring in an Alfa Romeo remains one of the great stories of German Grand Prix racing. The collection continues that story with sports and racing cars from later decades, tracing the progression from early competition machinery to sophisticated endurance and Formula One technology.

Rallye Exhibition Red Bull VolkswagenThe museum hosts special exhibitions. “Rallye Legends: A Time Journey on Asphalt, Gravel and Snow” explores the development of rallying through competition cars associated with some of the sport's most recognizable manufacturers. Audi Quattro, Volkswagen, Porsche and other rally machines demonstrate how competition on asphalt, gravel and snow pushed automotive technology forward. The sports-car galleries include celebrated names from Jaguar, Shelby, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche and Ferrari. Endurance racing is represented by machines such as the Audi R18 e-tron quattro, while Ferrari competition cars demonstrate the close relationship between racing development and automotive engineering.

Niki Lauda Champianship Ferrari loh CollectionThe Ferrari display extends into Formula One, with championship cars and engines. Among the highlights is the Ferrari F2004, associated with Michael Schumacher's 2004 championship season. Its presence provides a striking contrast with the museum's earliest automobiles and shows how dramatically racing technology evolved within a single century.

Virtual Racing Stations Loh Collection MuseumNear the end of the museum experience, the focus shifts from historic cars to an interactive activity. Virtual racing simulators recreate the Nürburgring Nordschleife, allowing visitors to experience the famous German circuit from behind the wheel. It is a modern counterpart to the historic racing machines throughout the collection—and an entertaining way to finish a journey through automotive history. © Bargain Travel Europe
