LONDON HELICOPTER
Sightseeing Helicopter Rides over London

London Helicopter EurocopterLondon is an amazingly diverse and sprawling town, full of iconic sights of medieval royal castles, churches, palaces, mixed with a modern ever changing skyline of unique architecture from the Gherkin to the London Eye Wheel and the newest edition, The Shard skyscraper, the tallest building in western Europe, jutting into the sky. But why not get above it all and see London as the birds and modern day chimney sweeps do, from the air, by helicopter. Fly over some other cities and all you see is sprawl, but London offers extraordinary sights, see the full layout of the Tower of London, or peek behind the walls of Buckingham Palace.

For a unique and unforgettable sightseeing experience, head down to the Barclays London Heliport at Battersea on the Thames, where the tourist flight service, London Helicopter, the only scheduled helicopter sightseeing service in the UK, offers aerial flyover views of London from the passenger seat of a Eurocopter AS350 state-of-the-art helicopter.

View of London Thames by HelicopterPrices start at £199 per seat. A minimum of 2 passengers need to be booked for the flights to take off and the helicopters seat up to 6 passengers. The flights last for 20 minutes and the tour takes off from Battersea, soaring over many of London’s most famous sights from 500 to 1,000 feet above the city. The flight path follows the River Thames from Putney in the West to Greenwich in the East as the pilot points out the variety of stunning landmarks, Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey and the Horseguards Parade, St Paul’s Cathedral, the London Eye, and not-so-secret massive headquarters of MI6. If you luck out on clear days, you can see to central London landmarks as well.

St Pauls Cathedral by HelicopterThe London Helicopter offers Gift Vouchers if you want to give someone the ultimate sight-seeing present. The Voucher comes with a mini HD Toshiba Camileo Clip Camcorder in a gift box for just an extra £10, to record the flight experience for all those memories. Gift vouchers range in price options from £25 for a discount, up to £850 for the full 6 seats to take a group on an “Exclusive” flight over London.

Getting to the Battersea Heliport is more of a challenge. There is no parking lot at the heliport and nearby streets only offer limited parking, so it is advised to come by public transportation or taxi. The nearest stop is the Bus No. 170 to Lombard Road from Victoria Bus Station. The Clapham Junction Railway Station with service from Victoria and Waterloo is a 10 minute walk, the 170 bus, or short taxi ride. The nearest underground is the Vauxhall Station on the Northern Victoria Line, but it’s still about 15 minutes by taxi and too far to walk. © Bargain Travel Europe
