LAKE LUCERNE – Pt 2 - SIGHTSEEING
Special Theme Day Cruises on Lake Lucerne
The
cruisers which sail the waters of Lake Lucerne serve the region of
its four surrounding cantons with general passenger service,
but for
tourists to Switzerland’s mountainous central region of Lucerne
the classic and modern lake boat cruisers of the ship line of the Vier
Waldstättersee offers a number of sightseeing cruise options,
on either the historic turn of the century paddle steamers or sleek
motor
cruisers (see Lake
Lucerne Cruising Pt 1).
Paddlewheel Steamer Cruise - Half Day
This is a sightseeing cruise departing from and returning to Lucerne,
designed as a special experience for the nostalgia of the historic
paddle steamers. The highlights of this three and a half hour cruise
are the
meeting of three paddle steamers, with parallel cruising for a portion
of the trip through the “Nas” narrows, with a music program.
Includes view of the KKL Luzern cancert hall, designed by Jean Nouvel,
the Richard Wagner Museum along the shoreline at Tribschen. View of
the
steep rocky
cliffs of Bürgenstock with its 1872 vacation resort. The food
is a special menu of typical Swiss appetizers and Rösti dishes.
First Class Fare for adults on Upper Deck of the cruise boat is 72
CHF and
second class 47 CHF. Departs at 12:40 and returns at 4:23 pm.
Mt Rigi Round Trip Cruise and Scenic Rail
This
is a scenic cruise and scenic shore excursion day cruise from Lucerne
to Mt Rigi (see Mt
Rigi Rail), including panoramic views from
the top
of Mt. Rigi "Queen of the Mountains". The cruise departs
from Lucerne to Vitznau with a ride on cogwheel train rail ride to
Rigi-Kulm,
then the aerial Cable Car from Rigi-Kaltbad down to Weggis (see Post
Hotel Weggis), with return trip from Weggis to Lucerne.
First Class Fare for adults on Upper Deck of the cruise boat 127 CHF
and second class
106 CHF. Departs at 9:12 in the morning and returns at 3:45 in the
afternoon.
Lunch Cruise from Lucerne
Enjoy lunch on the lake with this three and half hour round trip, with
a large salad bar buffet, with seasonal meat, fish, or vegetarian specialties
changing weekly, and spectacular array of desserts. Departs from the
Lucerne boat pier at 12 noon. You don’t have to have the lunch
though. Travel fare for adults in 1st class, 34 CHF, 2nd class 26 CHF,
with the lunch a separate price of 36.50 CHF.
Lunch Cruise on Lake Uri
This is a daily mid-day cruise departing from Brunnen and touring the
Lake Uri portion of Lake Lucerne with some of the more dramatic
fjords, hidden bays and steep shoreline. Enjoy lunchtime on the lake.
