American Art travels to Europe
The Bucerius Kunst Art Forum has only
been around since 2002 but has become one of the principal cultural
institutions in Northern Germany.
The art museum which presents themed art exhibitions from collections
on loan rather than having a permanent collection, is located in the
Rathausmarkt market plaza neighboring the Hamburg Rathaus (City Hall)
and near the canal locks which separate the Alster lakes from the canals
to the Elbe River. The exhibition space is the columned building from
the early 20th Century and Named for Gerd Bucerius co-founder and publisher
of Germany’s well know Der Zeit newspaper, the museum is funded
by the ZEIT Foundation. Open daily from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. with special "Lunch" and "After
Work" tours. The Bucerius Kinder Kunst Club is a program for kids
to be introduced to art through a painting class connected with the exhibition
theme.
