The Sherlock
Holmes Pub has been around since 1957 and boasts a re-creation of the
Holmes and Watson
Baker Street
rooms study next to the restaurant. The display is one
left over from a Holmes World Festival in 1951. Two other version of
the rooms of Holmes and Watson can be found at the Holmes Museum on
Baker
Street
(see Sherlock
Holmes London Museum) and in all the way in Switzerland
near Interlaken at the Reichenbach Falls (see Sherlock
Holmes Museum Meiringen) where Doyle got the idea to try
to end his character's career. Holmes was of course
a fictional character and only never visited London
pubs in disguise
(see Sherlock
Holmes Hotel), yet locals gather at happy hour on the
street outside to bend an elbow
and jaw
about
the
latest
mystery
of the day’s daily news.
Congregating outside pubs in London is a common scene since the smoking
ban chased London imbibers outdoors. But with London’s notorious
weather don’t forget your deerstalker cap and your Brolly. © Bargain
